What is Summer Connections?

Summer can be a busy time and it is hard to commit to a regular group.

Therefore, we will have Summer Connections. We will offer five different experiences once per month (June, July & August). You can attend any and all that you are able to and interested in. These are also great opportunities for you to invite a friend or family member!

So, what exactly are we doing this summer? Read below:

  • Game Day

    First Sunday of every month (June 2, July 7, August 4)

  • Movie Night

    Wednesdays at 7 pm (June 5, July 10, and August 7

  • Pickleball at Belknap Park

    Sundays from 12 to 2 pm (June 9, July 21, and August 18)

  • Crucial Conversations

    Wednesdays at 7 pm (June 19, July 24, August 21) at MCC

  • Picnic in the Park

    Sundays after Church (June 23, July 28, August 25)



Game Day

Game Day takes place on the first Sunday of every month (June 2, July 7, Aug 4), stay around after church to play games. Bring a favorite game and snack.

Movie Night

Movie Night takes place on Wednesdays at 7 pm, June 5, July 10, Aug 7.

Join us at Boardwalk Condos (940 Monroe Ave NW) in the Cinema Room for a movie and brief discussion. Feel free to bring in some food/drink.

Pickleball at Belknap Park

Pickleball at Belknap Park takes place on Sundays from 12 to 2 pm, June 9, July 21, Aug 18.

Come play pickleball at Belknap Park (30 Coldbrook St NE). Pickleball is a cross between tennis and ping pong. It’s easy to learn and easy to play. We anticipate having equipment available on loan from the Grand Rapids Pickleball Club, but if you can bring equipment to share, please do so. We encourage you to grab a quick lunch for yourself after church and then head over to the park!

Crucial Conversations

Crucial Conversations takes place on Wednesdays at 7 pm, June 19, July 24, Aug 21 at church.

We will discuss three important topics of our time: LQBTQI+ and the church (June), Environment (July), and Race (August).

Picnic in the Park

Picnic in the Park takes place on Sundays after church, June 23, July 28, Aug 25.

Gather in Canal Park for a picnic. Bring your picnic lunch and we will also have some food available, particularly for guests. There are a few tables by the kids’ play area, but feel free to bring your own blanket or chairs as well as any lawn games. We will eat, talk, and hang out together.
