Current Show: Angie Thieszen and Selections from Calvin University's Prodigal Son Collection
MCC is pleased to host two shows up from April to mid-June, 2023
In the gallery, we welcome Angie Thieszen's wood stain art work.
Angie writes: "Angie's eye is most often drawn to the contrast between light and dark, shadows and highlights, depth and reflection. These elements are brought out in uniquely dynamic ways by using wood stain as her medium instead of traditional paints."
In the Worship Center, MCC is hosting selections from Calvin University's Prodigal Son Collection.
In 2008-2009 Larry and Mary Gerbens donated their collection of prodigal son artwork to their alma mater Calvin University. To celebrate this gift, the Calvin University Center Art Gallery held an exhibit in conjunction with the Calvin Symposium on Worship. These pieces now join the university's permanent collection.
This collection arose out of a love for and belief in the impact of the visual arts in our flourishing as God's human creatures. The works of art are the visual testimonies of wonderfully gifted artists on the nature of forgiveness as expressed in the parable of the prodigal son. Read more.
