About the piece:

In pursuit of knowing the Divine, my studio practice reflects the ups and downs of exploring faith. A couple years ago, I became fascinated with religion and how I could explore my identity of faith. Through the journey of material and spiritual colliding, prayer has become an integral part of my search and discovery. My hands gravitate towards the grounded practice of ceramics, finding a process that is interconnected with my humanity. The project, "Offering" is a remnant of prayer. The prayer was not a language known by speech but by visual language.

The work will be a series of multiple pieces arranged together.

This week we welcome Danielle Mims sharing her work: "Ephemerality"

About the piece:


This installation is an abstract garden inspired by the landscapes
that shaped my imagination as a child. Our experience of time
appears to move faster as we grow from childhood into adulthood.
The suspended movement of the forms is my attempt to freeze
time and embrace a fleeting moment of wonder.

The spatial arrangement of the curving pathways invites viewers
to move through the work at an unhurried pace.

I view time as fragile and fleeting similar to the materiality of the
piece. This is my reflection on ephemerality and how the practice
of awareness alters our experience of time.
