Reflections: Who is the Holy Spirit?

Pastor Jim noted that we are prone to see the Holy Spirit as an impersonal power rather than a person, and as a result, we seek to use him rather than seek a relationship. Has this been true of you? Why might it difficult for you to see the Spirit as a person?

Pastor Jim mentioned ways that he talks regularly to the Spirit—asking “What do you want to say to me today?” and “Who do you want me to pray for?” Would you be willing to incorporate one or both of these questions in your prayers?

What is your response to the question contained in the quote from R.A. Torrey: “How can the Holy Spirit get hold of and use me?”
