Series Overview:

This year we are embarking on a special series on Lent. We will be exploring the lectionary, a collection of scripture passages that are read during the church year. During Lent, the lectionary readings are focused on Jesus’ ministry and his ultimate sacrifice for us. We will be studying these passages and reflecting on the life of Jesus and his teachings. We will also use the lectionary to explore the themes of repentance and forgiveness.

This series will help us understand the passages more deeply and draw closer to Jesus. We invite you to join us as we explore the lectionary during Lent and draw closer to God.

March 5

In this season of Lent, we are following the Lectionary, a collection of scripture readings, appointed for certain days and occasions on the church calendar.

Lent is a time when we are invited to fast, or remove something from our lives, in order to bring our attention to Jesus in prayer.

In this second week of Lent, Anthony will be preaching from Matthew 17:1-13, reflecting on how we are called to join our comforts and hopes for this world, with the mission of Jesus. Join us in person or online as we worship, learn, and grow together.

March 12

On the third Sunday of Lent, we have the opportunity to look at the story of Jesus being tempted by the devil in the wilderness. Each temptation thrown at Jesus asks him to use his power in a way that is not bad, but out of line with God's intention for Jesus' life, and the world at large.

As Anthony taught last week, we do not have to give up the hopes and dreams for a better world. But what does Jesus teach us about combating the temptations to accomplish these things on our own terms?

March 19

On the fourth Sunday in Lent, we will be reflecting on the entirety of John Chapter 9. God's character is revealed to us in simple, but profound ways. But are we ready to accept all aspects of God's character, even when they are an affront to our worldviews and paradigms? Join us in person or online this Sunday as Anthony preaches on God's character, as he reveals himself all throughout scripture.

March 26

In one of the ancient creeds of the church, the Apostle's Creed, Jesus' followers confess that we, "Believe in the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting." Oftentimes this brings our minds right to our view of New Creation or life after we die. But Jesus is calling us toward resurrection in our daily lives as well. This week Jim will be teaching out of John Chapter 11, reflecting on what resurrection life looks like in the here and now.

April 2 • Palm Sunday

This week we celebrate Palm Sunday. Just as the crowds quickly became disappointed with Jesus not meeting their expectations, we can easily feel disappointed by God, not meeting our desires the way we hope he will.

So what does this mean for us when we come and "celebrate" Palm Sunday? How do we respond as Jesus followers when the disappointment we face in life seems to be so closely tied to our faith in Jesus?

Join us this Palm Sunday, in person or online, as Jim teaches out of John 12, reorienting our hope in who Jesus is and what he came to do.
